John O'Coin - 2007 Inspector of the Year
Among hundreds of candidates nationwide, our John O'Coin won a free trip to our national HouseMaster conference in Philadelphia to be fetted as the company's Inspector of the Year. John is not only a superlative inspector, but has a deep devotion to innovation and customer service. Please read some of John's accolades.John never takes vacation. In the last 3.5 years I’ve known him, I think he has taken a whole week off - total. If he gets the day off, he complains. He doesn’t take holidays. I swear, if I had an inspection for Christmas, he would want it. That’s just John. He is always at the ready. If I get an inspection that pops up at the very last minute, I know that I can always count on John, if he is not already booked. I have sent him out on 30 minutes’ notice before. If an inspector would be down and not able to make an inspection, then I knew I always could squeeze it into John’s schedule. I had to do that a couple of times when Robert was with us. I don’t need to remind you that he does all this while caring for his invalid housemate, “Mr. Jamison”. That means that John is juggling any inspection I give him and still making sure that Mr. Jamison is at all of his medical appointments (kidney dialysis) and getting the care he needs.

John O’Coin is our most name-requested inspector, with a majority of his inspections being by-name requests. He has performed over 2,100 inspections.
I have had John perform over 120 inspections for my clients. He is extremely efficient and explains things very thoroughly. He is service-oriented and “tells it like it is”. I have dealt with many home inspections during my thirty-eight years in the military. This is, without question, the most comprehensive, readable, organized report I have seen. The comments and pictures leave no doubt about the condition of the property. It is also easy to discern between structural defects or damage and just regular homeowner’s maintenance problems. We had John inspect two homes for us. The great job he did on the first one saved us from making a grave mistake on our purchase. We then found another home we were interested in and called and requested his services again - - and now feel very secure in our purchase, because of his thorough and honest inspection. As you know, I am a huge supporter of Mr O'Coin. The man is always happy to be working, thrilled that you requested him, and takes his responsibility very seriously. He has mastered the art of giving information without instilling panic. But he looks at every inspection as if he might be buying the home himself. He also has no problem answering questions after the fact. Many times, I have called him to get clarification on a report in the evening and he happily gets back to me with what I need. I had a re-inspection with a particularly obnoxious owner/agent at one point and John stuck to his guns and stayed extra time to provide the support that we needed to make our point.
