www.ServiceMagic.com

. . . is a wonderful tool for finding COMPETENT, WELL SCREENED, and INSURED service providers such as roofers, carpenters, plumbers, flooring contractors, A/C contractors.

We know; because we at HouseMaster-Phoenix went through their screening process and it took WEEKS. In fact, unbeknownst to us, one of our credentials had expired. If Service Magic hadn't told us, we never would've known.

Service Magic is painstakingly thorough in their analysis and follow-up with the consumer, too. As a consumer, I needed a roofer in rural Michigan to evaluate my mother-in-law's farm's home roof. I used Service Magic and the roofer to whom I was referred called me within a day, went out to evaluate the roof within 2 days, and faxed me a report immediately. That was SERVICE! For being an out-of-state consumer, I was very pleased and encouraged.

Exploding Hot Water Heater Destroys Property

Explosion at a Home in Mifflinburg PA, Monday, October 22, 4:18 p.m. A water heater is to blame for an explosion that destroyed an apartment house Sunday in Union County PA. The explosion happened around 6 a.m. Sunday morning in a downstairs apartment at 424/426 Market Street in Mifflinburg PA. Officials believe a pressure valve on one of the water heaters broke, causing pressure to build in the tank, and then explode. One woman was in the apartment at the time, but neither she nor the woman who lives on the second floor were hurt. Damage is estimated at about $83,000. [Editor's Note: House recently sold for $79,500]

Phoenix KTVK's "3 on Your Side" Inspecting the Inspector

Wendy Rogers, a State-licensed Arizona Real Estate Instructor & Hal Kunnen, Chief Inspector for HouseMaster Home & Termite Inspections, perform a home inspection of a 2nd-story condominium in Chandler AZ and find 4 major defects. Two other home inspection companies inspect also, but end up missing 3 out of the 4 defects. This is because they do not get up onto the roof or into the attic crawlspace. Neither one brings a ladder long enough to scale the roof. Neither one carries any insurance, thus exposing the consumer to possible unknown problems in the future, creating risk and exposure for the homebuying client and the referring Realtor.
